Dr Bronwyn ‘Bron’ Neill

Lawyer

Bronwyn 'Bron' Neill, Lawyer at Robertson Hyetts Lawyers Bendigo and Castlemaine.

You might wonder what could possibly connect owning the Woodend Video Store, a PhD in diabetes research and Commercial Law, but once you’ve met Bronwyn ‘Bron’ Neill, the links make perfect sense.

Shaped by diverse life experiences and a deep connection to the Macedon Ranges community she calls home, Bron brings a unique background to her work as a Lawyer at Roberston Hyetts.

After schooling at Kyneton High, Bron initially pursued a passion for science, inspired by her father, a biomedical physicist. This led her to complete a Bachelor of Biotechnology/Biomedical Science (Honours) at RMIT, followed by a PhD focused on diabetes. She later taught and lectured at RMIT and contributed to medical research at the Baker IDI and Peter Mac, collaborating with Bio21.

However, life took an unexpected turn when health issues required her to step away from the lab. While working with the Salvation Army, she became acutely aware of the need for legal services in the community, particularly for women. This realisation inspired her to return to study, earning a Juris Doctor from RMIT.

With a broad professional background and a methodical, analytical approach honed through years in science, Bron brings a unique perspective to her legal practice. Now specialising in Commercial Law, Business, and Construction, she excels in helping clients navigate complex situations.

“I take each client as they are and work to communicate with them at their level of experience. Some people will be well informed and know exactly what they want, while others need help and support understanding their options or situation.”

Drawing on her teaching experience, Bron ensures that clients fully understand the legal processes to avoid misinterpretations or misunderstandings. She is known for her strong advocacy for diversity and inclusion and maintains solid ethics and integrity in every aspect of her work.

“There’s no such thing as wrong or silly questions. My focus is on making sure my clients feel confident and informed.”

Outside work, Bron is an active member of her local community and gets involved in anything and everything when she finds the time. You’ll catch her mountain and road biking, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Bron works from both the Bendigo and Castlemaine Robertson Hyetts offices.
